There are two kinds of ads to use. One is a direct call to action, the other is a longer term branding ad that also includes a call to action. Both must include personal details - you must be to the point and yet include details that pique interest and evoke desire to either learn more or make a point of participating.
Ads for specific, one or two day events must have a direct call to action. Yet they cannot be "your print ad set to music." Make sure to include the "tone" of your event - two most frequently used are fun and lighthearted, or relaxing and upscale. Your ad must have ONE contact source... a website, or a phone number. Not both.
If you'll be using various store names or sponsor names in the ad, you might elect to include a ten word slogan for each. Make sure not to list more than three in any one ad to leave room for all your event information.

Ads for communities that will air over a longer period of time (perhaps ads throughout a farmer's market season, or ads that are for "Terrific Tuesdays) need to be consistent so that when persons hearing the ads know it as an ad for that community. The music should be the same in all the ads, the person voicing the ads should be the same.
Length of ads and reasons to use them
You'll need sixty second ads to get in the full story of your event and why people should attend. You'll also need ten or fifteen second ads as teasers for the various events. Some stations will add the ten second ads gratis, other stations will ask you to pay a nominal fee.
